IBM: Remote Working Is Great! (for everyone except us)

Big Blue thinks companies should do the thing it absolutely refuses to do

IBM, the company that a few weeks ago said it was eliminating its work policy from home, is now preaching the benefits of teleworking to customers.

Big Blue's Smarter Working Group says a recent panel hosted at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Conference concluded that remotely working customers are "more committed, more confident in leadership, and much More intent to remain. "

"These findings reflect what an IBM Smarter Workforce Institute study found," the group wrote.

"Challenging the Modern Myths of Remote Work shares employee research revealing that remote workers are highly committed, more likely to consider their workplaces as innovative, happier with their job prospects and less stressed than their peers More traditional.

This is published without any apparent sense of irony, as IBM said a few weeks ago that remote workers were not part of their "recipe for success" and could no longer work anywhere else than their six regional offices in various technology centers worldwide. US.

"There's only one recipe I know for success, especially when we're in a battle with both Microsoft and West Coast companies as we are, and it's about bringing great people with the right skills, giving them the right tools, giving them A mission, make sure they can analyze their results, put them in really creative creative places and set them free, "said IBM marketing manager Michelle Peluso at the time.

"That's the recipe I've always trusted and the one I've told, and I know that if we do that we can accomplish extraordinary things."

Apparently, while IBM may only know one recipe for success, it is perfectly willing to pitch others into a series of products made for an approach it is trying to kill internally. On the other hand, given its fifteen straight run of diminishing revenues, perhaps it is best for customers to opt for their own recipes.
